By using EVCostIQ you agree to these terms. Please read them — they explain what our estimates are, and just as importantly, what they are not.
What EVCostIQ provides
EVCostIQ is an independent information tool that produces estimates of the total cost of owning an electric vehicle compared with a gasoline vehicle, across the markets we cover. The numbers come from a transparent calculation method documented on our methodology page, using public data sources together with clearly-labeled modeled assumptions (such as depreciation curves, charging losses, maintenance, and insurance).
Estimates only — not financial or purchase advice
Everything on this site is for general information and planning. It is not financial, tax, investment, legal, or vehicle-purchase advice, and it is not a quote, offer, or guarantee of any price, cost, saving, incentive, or resale value.
- Your actual costs will differ based on your driving, local prices, financing, insurer, taxes, incentives you qualify for, and how the vehicle is used and maintained.
- We do not know your circumstances. Treat our output as a starting point for your own research, not a decision.
Figures are dated and may go out of date
Prices, electricity and fuel rates, tax credits, and specifications change frequently. Each figure carries an "as of" date and a source, but data can be superseded at any time, and incentives in particular can expire or change with little notice.
- Before buying, leasing, or relying on any number, verify it with the official source — the manufacturer, your utility, your insurer, your lender, and the relevant tax authority.
- Some inputs are estimates by design (clearly labeled as such) and are not licensed third-party valuations.
No warranty
EVCostIQ is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We work to keep the data and method sound and transparent, but we do not warrant that every figure is current or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, EVCostIQ and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or its estimates, including any purchase, financing, or other decision you make. Your use of the site is at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Advertising and links
This site is supported by advertising (see our Privacy Policy). Ads are served by third parties and we do not endorse advertised products. External links are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for third-party content. We take no manufacturer commissions and no referral fees that affect our calculations.
Intellectual property and acceptable use
The site's text, design, and original data compilations are owned by EVCostIQ. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial use. Please do not scrape, republish, or resell the content or data wholesale without permission. Underlying public data sources remain subject to their own licenses, listed on the methodology page.
Changes
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
